This was not a hackathon in the usual sense. Instead of starting with code, participants started with problems they understood, shaped those ideas into prompts and product specs, worked with AI agents to build prototypes, and ended the afternoon by pitching live demos.
이 행사는 일반적인 해커톤과 달랐습니다. 코드를 먼저 쓰기보다 참가자들은 자신이 잘 아는 문제에서 출발해, 그 아이디어를 프롬프트와 제품 스펙으로 정리하고, AI 에이전트와 함께 프로토타입을 만든 뒤, 오후 마지막에 라이브 데모로 발표했습니다.
Before building, participants learned the Skillthon workflow: this was not a typing contest, but a loop of clarifying the idea, writing a structured request, letting the agent build, reviewing the output, and redirecting.

Dohoon Kim, CEO at Hashnews.com, came with a hyperlocal news platform concept. Hashnews uses AI to transform field photos and videos captured by citizens into real-time news, then delivers those stories to users based on their interests and location.
The idea replaces inefficient flyer- and banner-based local information sharing with digital news, reducing paper use and illegal advertising materials. It also creates new earning opportunities for citizen reporters through original photo/video verification and copyright transactions, with a long-term goal of helping make photo and video rights in journalism more practical and tradable — in part like a Getty Images layer for local news media.
He arrived about an hour late with family and without prior Codex experience. The team first helped translate his slides into a clearer product specification using ChatGPT. That written brief became the starting point for Codex, which framed and implemented enough of the app for him to show the concept live.
Hashnews.com CEO 김도훈 님은 하이퍼로컬 뉴스 플랫폼 콘셉트를 가지고 왔습니다. Hashnews는 시민이 촬영한 현장 사진과 영상을 AI가 실시간 뉴스로 가공하고, 관심 사용자에게 맞춤 전달하는 서비스입니다.
이 아이디어는 전단지와 현수막 중심의 비효율적 정보 전달을 디지털 뉴스로 전환해 종이 사용과 불법 광고물을 줄이는 것을 목표로 합니다. 또한 사진·영상의 원본 인증과 저작권 거래를 통해 시민 리포터에게 새로운 수익 기회를 제공하고, 장기적으로는 언론계의 사진·영상 저작권을 더 현실적으로 거래할 수 있게 하는 로컬 뉴스 미디어용 Getty Images 같은 역할까지 확장하려는 구상입니다.
김도훈 님은 가족과 함께 약 한 시간 늦게 도착했고, Codex 경험도 없었습니다. 운영진은 먼저 ChatGPT를 활용해 슬라이드 속 아이디어를 더 명확한 제품 스펙으로 정리했습니다. 그 문서가 Codex의 출발점이 되었고, 이후 Codex가 앱의 구조와 구현을 잡아가면서 콘셉트를 라이브 데모로 보여줄 수 있었습니다.
First place went to Preaching Sermon Creator, a demo that helped pastors generate sermon ideas, organize structure, and draft sermon materials. The project showed how ministry expertise could become a practical AI-assisted workflow.
The result highlighted the Skillthon's premise: domain expertise can become a working prototype when the builder can clearly specify the problem.

Another participant faced a practical blocker: setup constraints reduced the usable build time, but they still built Researcher Matching from scratch in about two hours on a borrowed laptop. The demo turned a technology brief into ranked US researcher matches for Korea-US commercialization and placed second.
또 다른 참가자는 현실적인 제약을 겪었습니다. 셋업 문제로 실제 빌드 시간이 줄었지만, 빌린 기기로 약 두 시간 만에 Researcher Matching을 만들었습니다. 이 데모는 기술 브리프를 바탕으로 미국 연구자 후보를 추천하는 한미 사업화 워크플로우를 보여주며 2등을 수상했습니다.
Third place went to Hojun Ji's pet-care concept, presented as “Meet Zephyr!” and “Your Pet's Second Best Friend.” The idea started from a familiar owner problem: when people are away, pets can become bored, under-stimulated, or anxious.
The demo explored an AI-powered companion that could keep a dog engaged, stimulated, and comforted while the owner is away. It was a good example of the Skillthon format: a personal, relatable problem became a product story, a prototype direction, and a public pitch in one afternoon.
3등은 지호준 님의 반려동물 케어 콘셉트였습니다. 발표에서는 “Meet Zephyr!”와 “Your Pet's Second Best Friend”라는 이름으로 소개됐어요. 아이디어는 익숙한 보호자의 고민에서 출발했습니다. 보호자가 집을 비운 동안 반려동물이 지루해하거나, 자극이 부족하거나, 불안해할 수 있다는 문제였어요.
이 데모는 보호자가 자리를 비웠을 때 강아지가 계속 교감하고, 자극을 받고, 편안함을 느낄 수 있도록 돕는 AI-powered companion을 탐색했습니다. 개인적이고 공감하기 쉬운 문제가 하나의 제품 스토리, 프로토타입 방향, 공개 발표로 이어진 좋은 스킬톤 사례였습니다.
Fourteen people registered; seven demos were presented live, including four from registered attendees, two additional demo presentations, and one from a walk-in participant. With seven presenters, each demo had time for explanation, feedback, and questions, even though the room still had many listeners.
